The organisation, A Safe World For Women, is campaigning for the release of Sarah Shourd, a US citizen held in solitary confinement in Evin prison, Iran for over a year.
It reports that she is confined to her cell for 23 hours a day and is only allowed out for one hour into an exercise yard where she can associate with her two US friends, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal.
She is forced to wear a blindfold when she leaves her cell and to go to the bathroom, she has to ring a bell. Her food is served inside her cell.
She has a lump in her breast which urgently requires medical attention.
Asafeworldforwomen is asking us to e-mail the United Nations special rapporteur on torture demanding urgent intervention and to write to Navanethem Pillay, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
