The family of a single mum of three, who died in a freak accident, say they can't afford to pay for her funeral.
The Birmingham Mail reports the heartrending story of Julie Layton, 37, of Weoley Castle. Julie was on a bus when she was flung over as the driver slammed on the brakes to avoid a car. She hit her head on the coin machine incurring the fatal injuries.
Her body has been released for the funeral but the family say the undertakers are demanding £5,000 upfront which they cannot afford and Julie had no life insurance. They have now applied for help from a social fund but say they have been told there is a four-week wait.
Julie’s mum Janet Norgrove, aged 56, of Northfield, said: “Julie’s been dead four weeks already. It’s not fair on the children to wait another four weeks. They need closure.”
