In what is turning into the Quota Day debate, a story in Pakistan's International News covers growing calls for 50% representation of women in political parties, and 20% representation of women in government.
The demands were made by many representatives discussing the issue of women's political representation at a conference organised by the National Commission on the Status of Women. The Commission recently conducted a gender review of the political framework of women’s political participation in Pakistan.
The main findings of the research were that all the political parties together with ‘jirga’ heads and political representatives effectively prevent and deter women from the political processes in the country.
