An article in the Herald Sun claims that women are worse bosses. Based on a UK survey of 3000 people apparently both women and men agree that women are worse to work for.
Women bosses were said to be more likely to have a hidden agenda, suffer mood swings, get involved in office politics, backstabbing and bringing their personal lives into the office.
A representative from the online recruitment firm www.UKJobs.net, which commissioned the research is quoted saying "no one is suggesting women aren't intelligent enough to be in senior positions, far from it, but perhaps some need to be more approachable and less competitive."
The newspaper's website hosts a forum to vote on the issue giving the limited preference of man or woman boss, what about other more important qualifiers like a fair boss, a kind boss or a respectful boss?
The study fails to look at why women may have to be more competitive, secondly it essentializes women, how many of us know women bosses who don't have a hidden agenda, suffer mood swings, get involved in office politics, backstab or bring their personal lives into the office?
